A Storm of Light-And We Wept the Black Ocean Within

June 10, 2008

This is the type of album that you want to listen to during a creepy thunderstorm, or driving down an even creepier dirt road. A Storm of Light are doomy and stoner metal at close to its slowest and finest, something you would expect from this label and featuring multi band member Josh Graham.

This album is full of long songs that creep by at a snail's pace, only the snail weighs 350 pounds, much heavier than the average snail. The drumming is slow yet powerful, the centerpiece and driving force behind everything. The drumming is the most intricate of instruments on an album of great musicianship.

A Storm of Light also bring a spacey feel to the table. They don't hammer the riffs home as much as star gaze around them. That plus the stoner and doom aspects make for a pretty killer album.
