She Rides-Buy the Ticket
Rusty Knuckles
February 15, 2011
Being from the same state as these guys, and being a big fan of them, you’d think I would have seen them more than once, but I always seem to miss them for one reason or another. The one time I saw them though, I was pretty blown away by both their performance and stage presence. Sometimes albums don’t capture the experience, but “Buy the Ticket” nails the energy that She Rides is full of.
This is rock and roll at its dirtiest, but with a punk rock flair that not a lot of bands can pull off. I picture the dudes in Every Time I Die listening to this while furiously taking notes, shaking their heads wishing they created these riffs. She Rides is a riff heavy band, and the guitar lines never stop rising to the occasion. There is always something interesting going on, with the twangy scream of Dan Brown almost serving as a background while the guitarists show off their creativity.
At only 14 minutes, the listener is left wanting more; a lot more. This is hard hitting and a good bet to put on while doing anything fun. She Rides has put rock and roll itself on warning.
