The Fresh & Onlys

A lot of bands are paying homage to the pioneers of rock and roll, hoping to catch that sound like a time warp. The Fresh & Onlys have the uncanny ability to do that and then some. This is a very vintage sounding album that covers a few phases of rock and roll.

Wile listening to The Fresh & Onlys, I'm reminded of a garage rock band that takes heavy influence from Led Zepelin, The Stooges and The Beatles. This mixture sounds like it would be difficult to pull off, but they are able to do it with seeming ease. There is a very low fi feel to the production, making it sound like you are listening to AM radio back in the 70s. This works well with the style of music that they are playing. There is also a lot of low end, making them sound dirty, which is a nice contrast to the clean and sometimes happy sounding guitar and vocals.

This is a very interesting and enjoyable release. The Fresh & Onlys have a lot of hooks in their songs. This bodes well with the incredible amount of energy they put into each number. This is worth the price of admission.
