Have Heart-Songs to Scream at the Sun
Bridge 9
July 8, 2008

At first, I thought that something was a little off with the speakers in my car, but it turns out that this album is a little bit heavy on the low end, mostly in the bass area. It took some getting used to, but I eventually came around and got used to it. These songs are too strong to let anything (even the sort of buried in the mix vocals) get in the way of their enjoyment.

For this album, Have Heart got slower and heavier. They have a tinge of Modern Life is War to their music (it will now be impossible to talk about a slower tempo hardcore band without mentioning MLIW), but its not a blatant homage. I'm reminded a bit of Inside Out with the intense screams and tension that pours off of every instrument. This is not a basic hardcore band in the slightest. Have Heart are skewing the genre, tweaking it in ways to keep it interesting; something only a few other bands are doing.
