Swingin' Utters-Here, Under Protest

Swingin' Utters are back in full force with their first album in a long damn time. While the individual members have kept busy with other projects, the Utters seemed to have put on the back burner, but Here, Under Protest makes for a pretty good "welcome back" party.

The first two tracks are my favorite, both hard driving catchy rockers that sound like offshoots of A Juvenile Product of the Working Class. The rest of the songs are pretty close behind, but those are the two that stand out to me. This isn't a rehashing of something released 15 years ago, however. The Swingin' Utters write songs on this album that sound like a band that knows the ropes. They let their experience do the talking, and created an album that should be in the discussion of their best albums.

Fans of the Swingin Utters will not be disappointed at all with Brand New Lungs. They've been waiting a long time for this, and the payoff is huge. The songs are classic Utters and very memorable. This album will mean a lot to new fans years down the road.
