Job For a Cowboy-Ruination
Metal Blade
July 7, 2009

Job For a Cowboy pretty much let you know what you're in for from the opening drum fill (this is assuming you haven't heard them before). Its quick and creative with heavy written all over it, and the band doesn't stop that formula until the noise stops. They use their musical and vocal chops to their advantage, making for an impressive death metal album that will have people forgetting that they once sounded like pigs (which I liked, personally).

Taking a page out of Cannibal Corpse's book, Job For a Cowboy play fast and only let up to provide a slow drum beat breakdown/bridge that mixes things up nicely. Being from this generation of metal, there are a decent amount of sing alongs and mosh parts that will keep the kids happy, but this album is paying an homage to the death metal of old, as they're somewhat steering away from playing everything as technical as possible. Instead, they're focusing on the song itself instead of the individual parts.

This is a heavy album for fans of heavy music. Job For a Cowboy have been climbing the ladder for awhile now, and it seems like they are nearing the top.
