Water & Bodies-Light Year

Its crazy how much more you can get out of an album just by putting on a pair of headphones. I've listened to Water and Bodies a few times on my iTunes, finding them decent musically but a little on the boring side. It took the intamicy of headphones to really hear all the little subtleties they have graced throughout their musical landscape.

On the surface, they're a melodic indie pop rock band. They keep things light and have a dancy feel, though its not an overbearing near techno dance style that some bands have. Their music just has a lot of movement to it. The keyboard playing of lead singer Christopher James Ruff seem very hidden, but it adds so much depth that it becomes a real treat to listen to. I'm also a big fan of the bass grooves provided by Kile Brewer, as he is the driving force behind this band, giving drummer Beau Kuther plenty of room to work some technical magic.

Water & Bodies is a pretty unique sounding band. They blend in a lot of styles, though I get a sort of Circa Survive vibe out of them. Their music has a lot it, topped off with some catchy vocals that are easy to sing along to. Make sure you have some headphones handy for the full experience.
