Heart-Set Self-Destruct-Monster
Soundmine Music Works

My educated guess is that Monster is a five-song teaser EP, giving fans something to get excited about until Of Nightmares comes out next month. Heart-Set Self-Destruct are a mid-west band, so they’re very new to my radar. They’re also about 5-10 years late to the party.

Years ago, I used to work on the street team for a local alternative rock radio station until it was bought out and became a sports talk station. I wasn’t a huge fan of the majority of the music that was played, but I could tolerate and it was fun going to bars and spinning this type of music while drunken people thanked me endlessly. We hosted a Chevelle show and had Alien Ant Farm play a free show. These are the bands that Heart-Set Self-Destruct would fit in well with those types of bands, though they have added a modern and current edge to their music.

I can definitely see these guys breaking through in rock radio, even though I am mostly indifferent to them. They’re not exactly my style, but I respect their talent and wouldn’t turn off the radio if I heard them playing, which I’m sure will end up happening in the near future.
