Narrows-New Distances
Deathwish Inc.

Its tough when a band is formed with members with a musical resume that would have any boss salivating at mere sight. Expectations from people are set so high, as they expect a gold laying egg of brilliance, some sort of music that will melt your brain, and that is unfair. Narrows fall into this equation (read around the web for some other reviews, at least).

Listening to the guitars wail a painting across a punk rock canvass, Narrows have a lot to offer. There is a heaviness to their songs with the screaming, but the guitar work has a melodic sense that could make for a good hook. The rhythm section is dirty, with a distorted sound and a punishing thump. This makes for a pretty good listening experience. They keep things going at a relatively quick pace, though there are some moments that drag. They do like to rock out musically, which sounds like they're having fun, but it can become tedious at times. Overall, this isn't an album that's going to change your life, but its a good listen for slightly over a half hour, which is all someone can really ask for.
