NOFX-Cokie the Clown
Fat
November 24, 2009

NOFX is very good at keeping their fans indulged. This year alone, they've released a DVD ("Backstage Passport"), a full length CD (Coaster) and now an EP (or two 7" if you're into the vinyl) featuring songs recorded during the Coaster sessions. Love them or hate them, not many bands can keep their fans as happy as NOFX.

Here are four quality songs and an acoustic version of "My Orphan Year," which is good in its own right, but I don't like it as much as the fast and more energetic version on Coaster (this is a very solemn sounding song that works on the emotion scale). "Cokie the Clown" is the clear favorite on this album (at least my favorite), with Fat Mike and Melvin trading off vocals over the speedy drums and hysterical lyrics. The other three songs are typical NOFX songs, only they grew on me more and more with each listen instead of being instant classics like the majority of their material.

The only downer with this release is its length. I guess I'm greedy, but after 17 songs and a DVD released this year, I still want more (I wouldn't mind a release of the "Backstage Passport" theme song either). Thats what good bands do, and NOFX is as good as they come.
