Lemuria-Pebble
Bridge 9
January 11, 2011

I was just looking through the past and present roster of Bridge 9, and Lemuria really sticks out like a cracker in a bowl full of raisons. It’s always good for labels to spread their wings, and Lemuria is a pretty safe bet for a lot of people to like. They’re very accessible in a Hot Water Music sort of way, and there is a very comforting sound in their tone and Sheena Ozzella’s voice.

I’ve been trying to think of another way of describing their music, but cute is the best word coming to my head. They are very laid back, making use of softer dynamics and the male (drummer Alex Kerns)/female vocals work really well. They sound very held back, but its part of their charm. There is so much pop goodness sprinkled throughout this album that it’s hard not to smile through numerous listens.

“Yellowstone Lady” and “Different Girls” are two standout tracks for me, but I really enjoy listening to this album as a whole. All of their songs are good enough for me to happily listen to all 11 tracks, never feeling the need to skip over one. This may not be hardcore, but its still damn good music and a home run for Bridge 9.
