Propagandhi-Supporting Caste
Smallman/G7 Welcoming Committee
March 10, 2009

Propagandhi are back with their most intense album to date. They took full advantage of the addition of David “Beaver” Guillas, with out of this world guitar lines made even better with little extras thrown in here and there, whether it be some subtle harmonic parts or two thrashing guitar leads. The songs are well thought out and hard to compare to any other band besides Propagandhi. I don't really understand why people are putting them in the same sentence with A Wilhelm Scream (nothing at all against A Wilhelm Scream), as Propagandhi aren't really a melodic punk band anymore, instead creating their own brand of melodic harshness that reaches unexplored territory.

Supporting Caste is Propagandhi's way of proving to fans that they can nail numerous styles of punk and metal. Melody is all over the place, but then "This is Your Life" serves as a hardcore throwback that would make Greg Ginn or a young Ian MacKaye jealous. Thrash metal makes more than a few appearances on here, along with just jaw dropping heaviness that hasn't been labeled yet (which works well mixed in with the melody). Its their most ambitious album musically and creatively and they seem to pull it off so effortlessly.
