Punchline-Just Say Yes
Modern Short Stories
September 26, 2008
Punchline was always a band that I enjoyed, even if I felt that their mid paced pop punk style was a little transparent. They had a lot of hooks and an infectious sound, but there was something a little immature about them. This album isn't a whole lot different than their previous work, everything is a lot smoother, figuring out the loose ends and correcting them.
It sounds like more than a few of these songs were written straight to radio, which is fine, especially since they have a welcomed sincerity about their style of pop punk. Some of their slower songs ("Maybe I'm Wrong" for example) have me reaching for the "next" button, but those are few and far between. For the most part, Just Say Yes has a lot of fun moments that could take Punchline to the next level.
