I like Roll the Tanks more and more with each passing listen. I was whacked with a bit of confusion when their music first hit my ears, as I wasn't quite sure what to make of them. They have a punk feel, a dance-ish feel, a rock and roll feel and I couldn't help but have visions of The Clash flying throughout my head, though Roll the Tanks seemed a little less smooth with their songwriting.
As I continued to listen to Suffer City to get a better grasp of their desired direction, I went haywire for them. To my ears, this became a tight package of musical taste. There are a lot of great moments in the songs, and all of the styles they tackled flowed together well. Putting to paper what specific sound (or sounds) they were going for doesn't matter because it works. Roll the Tanks have written a start to finish solid album in which nothing sounds out of place (eventually) and every style they play compliments the others.
Roll the Tanks are, plain and simple, a fun band to listen to. There are plenty of parts to do plenty of things too, all with positive results. This is a band that you don't want to give up on if they don't immediately jump out of the stereo. Musical patience can sometimes be a fans' best friend.
