Senses Fail-Life is Not a Waiting Room
Vagrant
October 7, 2008

I haven't listened to any Senses Fail albums with the exception of their debut EP that came out in 2003, which I wasn't a fan of. Five years and three full lengths later, I'm reintroduced to Senses Fail, and while they don't seem to have tweaked their style much (there is more of a punk feel on this than I remember being on their EP), they have become a much better and more solid band, writing stronger and more enjoyable songs (and with lyrics that aren't cringe worthy).

The thing I like most about Life is Not a Waiting Room has to be the booming choruses. Buddy Nielson, who has an average voice but impressive vocal phrasing, drives the band and creates these all encompassing choruses that seem like everyone is singing along (check "Family Traditions"). Their ability to mix things up, between faster songs, melodic songs, huge choruses, heavy parts, etc, keep things interesting throughout this album, one that seems to fly by with confidence.
