Street Dogs-State of Grace
Hell Cat
July 8, 2008

This is easily the finest work yet from the Street Dogs. There is so much urgency to these songs that its hard not to fall head over heals for them. There is an instant catchiness that reels the listener in, and every song is a sing along anthem, a damn near perfect combination for a punk band.

For those that don't know, Street Dogs play a blend of melodic street punk and rock and roll. These songs are very mid tempo, using a standard rock backbeat, but they use that speed to their advantage, as these songs wouldn't work at all at any other pace. The gang backing vocals, of which there are plenty, will give people plenty to sing about, and they feature one of the best current vocalists in Mike McColgan. His voice is so strong and sincere, so poignant, and his lyrics can serve as stories or flat out words that speak to the heart.

Street Dogs have a sincerity to them that seems to have been driven away from the scene lately. In a time when most bands are much too interested in fashion and fame, Street Dogs come out with an album that is true to life, honest and full of dignity.
