Two Cow Garage-Sweet Saint Me
Suburban Home
October 26, 2010

This album's opener, "Sally, I've Been Shot," may very well be the song of the year. Micah Schnabel grabs the listener by the heart and doesn't let go. They lyrics are great and the vocal hooks kill. This is one of the most sincere songs that I have heard in awhile. The scary thing is that the other songs on Sweet Saint Me aren't that far behind this one.

The Shane Sweeney fronted songs don't take the listener away from the album, as they did on Speaking in Cursive. Instead of trying to sound like Tom Waits, he goes for rocking out with some solid singing. The songs aren't as good as Schnabel's, but not many singers can top his scratchy, genuine voice.

I wouldn't hesitate to call this their "coming out party." Two Cow Garage are working on all cylinders, writing heartfelt rock and roll songs with a touch of twang and a driving force behind them. This is easily their most solid record to date, and one that should get a lot more people learning their name. I always felt that they had what it takes to make it huge, and Sweet Saint Me should prove me right, if not close to it.
