The Red Chord-Fed Through the Teeth Machine
Metal Blade
October 27, 2009

I can't think of a better title for this album than Fed Through the Teeth Machine. This record grinds, spazzes and kills its way through 11 songs of technical metal at its absolute finest. This is their best work since Fused Together in Revolving Doors (no offense to their other albums, which deserve respect), with a lot of extra everything running the gauntlet. This is heavier, faster, meaner, more aggressive, the list goes on and on, than most albums that were put on the shelves at record stores in 2009. There is an extra swagger in their step, as The Red Chord reminds everyone just how much ass they kick.

As good as the music is, and if you're a fan of technical guitar, drum and bass work, then you're in for a treat, vocalist Guy Kozowyk takes center stage. He fits in so well with the music that he can sound himself like an instrument, with his deep growl that would scare off many a bear or other things that go spook in the night. The listener can actually sing along with the songs, which is something that can't be said about a lot of technical metal bands out there, and its quite a feat that he continues to pull off album after album.

Though the songs can tend to bleed into each other at times, this is one hell of an album. Everything is turned up a notch, which is admirable for a band that has been as consistent as The Red Chord have been for the past nine years. Turn this up and find something to get angry about.
