With a combination of Max Bemis and Chris Conley, Two Tongues had a lot to live up to right off the bat. Two of the biggest names joining up created an instant buzz, and a letdown could potentially have an adverse affect on their main bands. With the exception of a couple songs ("Alice" and "Back Against the Wall"), they don't have to worry about that. This album has a great flow to it, and the songs are wonderfully catchy.
The vocal trade off between Bemis and Conley works really well, even though they sometimes sound alike to me when my brain tends to wander. The music is mid tempo, but reminds me of Through Being Cool. This is alternative pop punk at or near its height. The hooks are out of this world, which is to be expected, as thats what these guys made a quality career out of.
This is a flat out solid album. I was never really a fan of Say Anything, but hearing Bemis' creativity (even collectively) on here has me reconsidering giving them another shot. This album is definitely worth numerous listens.
