These guys look like bikers, play a unique mixture of punk and classic rock, claim to be from Venus and have a whole back story that would make Kurt Vonnegut fans drool uncontrollably. They also rock pretty damn hard. The music is very energetic, played at quick (but not too quick) tempos featuring creative riffs with a really dirty sound. The vocals of Valient Himself, lean more towards the current angry garage punk singers, and his voice fits in really well with the music, giving the band even more energy. The guitar solos are sick, and there are plenty of them. The drumming (along with a lot of the riffing) has a very classic rock vibe to it, but played fast enough so that fans of punk won't write it off. This is a pretty solid release that, despite the hoopla, is nowhere near a novelty act. Valient Thorr are the real deal.
