I'm so glad that I listened to this band before I saw their picture:
I respect the freedom of individuality, but those hair styles anger me, literally. I find it so hard to take those haircuts seriously, making people have to work extra hard to gain my respect (not that my respect means anything). When I saw this picture, my stomach turned slightly. Luckily, I had already fallen for their six (five and a half since one is an instrumental) song EP.
Theatrical rock that doesn't over do the theatrics side of things, Versa Emerge are very good at balancing the music, letting the beautiful voice Sierra Kusterbeck (also the only member of the band with a hairstyle that doesn't need a beating) shine. This band is smart enough to know that they have a huge strength and they do a great job making the music interesting while keeping her in the spotlight. I like their rock influence and the technical parts that they throw in there. They don't do anything, technical wise, to make the listener's head explode, but they use their talents to spice things up, letting people know that there are many layers to Versa Emerge.
It'd be hard not to compare Versa Eerge to Paramore, as there are many simularities. Versa Emerge takes their musical ideas to the next level though, and seem willing to take strides to make themselves as innovative as they will be popular. This is just the beginning.
