Warship-Supply and Depend
Vagrant
November 4, 2008

I didn't like Supply and Depend at first. I listened to whatever they posted on Myspace and quickly disregarded it as gibberish, not even giving it a fair or worthy listen. This album arrives and turns my face bright red, as Fran Mark and Rob Lauritsen put together something really impressive. The songs are gritty, hoarse, and full of the lovely sounds of distortion. The mix between heavy and rock and roll is quite impressive. There are some melodic parts, but even they serve to be quite brutal and harsh, with Mark adding some extra tonsils to his sing.

Musically, this is very solid. These two guys are on the same sentence, and it shows in the music that they write together. The drum fills coincide with the guitar lines very well and vice versa, though they refrain from being mirror images of each other.

Warship are probably (and rightfully so) going to be a hot commodity for 2009. There is a good buzz going for them, and they just released one hell of an album. With only two guys in the band (unless they have hired guns for the road), I'll be interested to see how they pull this off live, but I think the future of Warship is bright.
