I was impressed enough after seeing White Wives play live to spend $5 to buy their album on the spot instead of waiting a few hours to get a "name my own price" download. I was looking forward to hearing how the songs I instantly fell for would sound on my stereo. While not having the energy of a live set, this serves as a great introduction to a band that is going to get very popular real soon.
With relatively straight ahead melodic vocals that hold everything together, White Wives are anything but ordinary when it comes to music. There are a lot of parts, but nothing is overbearing. More importantly, there is a lot of talent possessed by these musicians; a talent that is present but not shown off. They are a very dynamic band, which makes the louder and softer parts stand out that much more. There is a certain energy to their music, which is brought out even more in a live setting.
They have a unique sound, but a familiar one. I'm reminded of the Foo Fighters if they were an indie rock band. There are good driving parts, mellow parts and some great parts that will have you singing along. These songs (including a cover of The Pixies "Where Is My Mind?") will get a lot of mileage in most stereos.
