I had these predictions probably a week before the season started, and if the season were to end today, I'd be very wrong. Lucky for me, there's still a long time left in the season, which could be good for my predictions. Everyone is stunned at the Red Sox poor start, but I'm looking at the bright side of it all. The last time the Red Sox started out 0-5 was 1945, which is the last time the Cubs went to the World Series.
With the Barry Bonds and upcoming Roger Clemens trial, there will be a lot of baseball to stay tuned to off the field. Manny Ramirez also announced his retirement (a few minutes before I posted this for an interesting reason), so we'll see what type of sideshow he becomes if he decides to unretire.
Here are my Season Standings Predictions:
American League East1. Boston Red Sox * |
National League East1. Philadelphia Phillies* |
American League Central1. Minnesota Twins* |
National League Central1. Cincinatti Reds* |
American League West1. Texas Rangers* |
National League West1. Colorado Rockies* |
*=Division Winner
**=Wild Card
League Divisional Series
Red Sox vs. Rangers
Twins vs. Yankees
Phillies vs. Giants
Reds vs. Rockies
League Championship Series
Red Sox vs. Twins
Phillies vs. Reds
World Series
Red Sox vs. Reds
Champions

I still don't recognize the Houston Astros as a team. The have been officially off my radar for many years, even though they pretty much suck now.
Don't forget to read these predictions again in October to see how I did.
