This interview with Ian of New Found Glory and Broken Sounds Records happened via Email sometime in August.

1. Introduce yourself.

I am Ian, the bassist from New Found Glory.

2. If you could be any animal in the world, what would you be and why?

I would be a pug, because they know how to make people spoil them, and no one would kill me for meat to eat.

3. Why did you decide to start a record label?

Because I wanted to help out younger bands that had the same drive that nfg had when we were starting and no one would help us...

4. How did you come to the decision of running the label independently instead of trying to get a larger label behind it?

Me and Chad wanted to have 100% control and do things our way. If a major is involved, they will have say in everything, which is what we wanted to avoid...

5. Is running a label easier or more difficult than you originally anticipated?

I knew it would be hard work from the beginning. Its gonna take awhile to build the label, but thats what makes it fun. We don't need to be a huge label and have bands that sell millions of copies; we want to put out bands first cd and help them grow...

6. About how many demos do you receive a week? Do you guys have a "demo listening ritual" or anything like that?

We get a lot of demos. I listen whenever I get a chance. If I think its good, I then pass it on to Chad. So far, we have not signed any bands from getting a demo. The bands we signed we knew somehow. We wanted to sign one band from a demo, but they were too business, so we passed on them.

7. Give a brief description of each Broken Sound band.

Go to www.brokensounds.com and read the bios. Sorry, I am in Glasgow, Scotland and the money you pay for checking Email costs too much, but the bands on our label are:

8. When were you first aware of your fame?

I'm not aware of fame; I could care less about it. I just love playing shows. 1 person or 10,000, I have the same fun either way. When people care about fame they get cocky and turn into dicks.

9. Are there any bands that you didn't get along with on tour? How did you deal with that situation?

We get along with almost all bands on tour. I refuse to talk trash, but if we dont like a band we just don't hang out with them...and then we won't tour with them again.

10. Which venue is your favorite to play? Why?

I don't have a favorite, but I love playing South Florida so I can see friends and family.

11. What's the strangest thing a fan has ever done/given to/at/with/for you?

I'd rather not say. In case they read this, I dont want to hurt their feelings.

12. Name one album, besides your own, that you think everyone should own.

Michelle Branch-Broken Bracelet.

13. What's your favorite Olympic sport?

Eating or ice hockey.

14. Are you going to vote in the upcoming election?

Yes, against Bush...

15. Would you rather have your candidate win with a low voter turnout or lose with a high voter turnout? Explain.

To be honest, who cares who wins as long as it ain't Bush.

16. Final comments.

Thanks for the support.
