Despite the fact that this was only an Email interview with Spanish Gamble's bassist and vocalist Ryan, you can sense the excitement in the words that he typed. This is a band that is proud of their upcoming records, Its All Coming Down, and can't wait for what their bright future has in store.

1. State something interesting about yourself and your bandmates:
When we go on tour we try to hit as many brewery tours and places we saw on food network as we possibly can. We have an extreme affinity for hot foods and all of us are from the Northeast yet Randy was the only band member we actually met in the Northeast.

2. What was your initial vision when you started Spanish Gamble:
Well, Colin and I started playing together back when we both lived in New Mexico. We practiced in a storage shed for a while and finally my father let us move into his extra bedroom he had to jam. We've always been about having fun and taking part in a few beers, we never expected for it to go anywhere, we were just having a good time. It wasn't until I had this crazy idea to up and move to Gainesville, FL, after I had visited for The FEST, to try to get our band going and possibly go on tour. That really was the ultimate goal, to go on tour, meet new friends, and see new places. I'm pretty sure I can speak for everyone when I say that is still the vision that remains today, we're just a group of dudes who like to have a good time, who doesn't?!

3. How has the recording process for Its All Coming Down differed from past experiences?
For one, we toured all the way to Oakland, CA from Gainesville FL to record at Sharkbite Studios, which Ryan Massey of American Steel, owns. I guess you could say it was totally different than anything we've ever experienced as a band or individually. None of us have ever been in any previous bands that have ever been to a recording studio besides spare bedrooms or our own closet soundbooths really. This place blew us away when we walked in, it is an amazing studio. As far as the actual recording process, we have never tracked anything we've ever released until this album. We've always played live and captured the song as it was in that moment, which Rob Mcgregor referred to more as "documenting" a song. I think there's something you can enjoy with both styles of recording but we put a lot of hard work into our new album but we had one of the most amazing times doing so. Ryan Massey really knows his studio and great studio, he's not so bad behind a grill either!

What can people expect from Its All Coming Down?
I honestly think people are going to be surprised when they hear it if they heard us when we were called Dirty Money. Having Randy join the band added a whole new element but we really started writing as a cohesive unit and throwing ideas at eachother constantly during the process of writing a new song. Aside from a few bands that we all enjoy, all of us have a pretty unique taste in music and I think that helped us develope a sound that was more our own. I can say there definitely is a piece of each of us in every single song and this is a fairly ecletic album we are all very proud of.

5. What are your plans once the album is released?
All of us work so hard when we are at home in Gainesville for one reason and one reason only. Tour. We want to hit the road as much as financially possible. Let's put it this way, we don't plan to sign another lease this coming year and just being esenssially homeless so we can save that much more money to be on the road that much more. This coming May we plan on doing a US tour that will be planned around us playing Rad Fest in Wilmington, NC. The tour will involves ourselves and Nothington from FL throught the southwest up the coast to San Francisco. We couldn't be more stoked to be hitting the road with a band who not only is awesome, but knows how to have a good time. The plan for the rest of the tour is to try to find bands from each region and do some shows with them so each leg of the tour will be different, we have some other really cool bands in mind. We also plan on going overseas for the first time to play some shows in the UK/Ireland for sure, possibly all of Europe but that's still just in the idea stage, if not this year definitely in 2011.

6. What's the best way for a band to initially get people out to their shows?
Work hard, play hard. That's how we do it. We play for anybody who's willing to listen. We are probably one of a few bands that play the most local shows in Gainesville because we love to help out our friends bands and touring bands we haven't met. Sometimes I think that can be detrimental to your draw around your local area but no one likes a band who says their spreading theirselves too thin, it's about community and doing what you love to do and you've never met a band who likes to party as much as us! Ok, well maybe there's a few, but we are a rare breed nowa days it seems.

7. What has been your most memorable band experience thus far?
Wow, this is a REALLY tough one. When we were out in Oakland recording at Sharkbite, we took a couple days off during the mixing process and went to Yosemite National Park. We were set on doing the longest planned hike they had which was the famous "Half Dome". We were the most unprepared group ever to say the least. It was a two day hike and we didn't know there wasn't running water where we were camping at the base of the dome. We ended up drinking river water the whole trip and I can honestly say it was some of the best tasting water I've ever had and I trust that water more than the tap water in ANY city. As far music related, I'd say when we were playing our old state of New Mexico we got added literally last minute to a Lawrence Arms/The Falcon/American Steel/and Sundowner show. We shotgunned beers with them in the parking lot, played an amazing show, which our family got to attend, then I ended up going to a bar to sing kareoke with Brenden Kelly only later to end up with the spins in the back of their tour bus listening to a to-be-released album by the smoking popes because at the time, Ely from the popes was playing with The Falcon. I don't even know if that ever came out yet, but it sounded great!

8. What's a little known fact about Gainesville?
It's not like The Fest ALL the time like people tend to think after attending, myself included. BUT there is a show going on nearly every night and you're always sure to see someone you know who has a beer with your name on it.

9. Name one album, besides your own, that you think all people should have in their collection:
Only one? If I had to choose one right now it would be the Menzingers 7", Hold On Dodge. It's amazing and I can't wait for their new record as well.

10. Final comments:
We have a lot of exciting things planned for the release that are still under wraps, but I can assure you that it's going to be unlike any release you've ever seen. If you want us to come play in your town feel free to drop us a line on our myspace and we will do our damndest to make it happen!

Party on
-Ryan
