This is compilation of band articles and/or interviews, reagular magazine articles; some of which come out of left field with the creative ideas, and a short story. The story is the weakest part of this, but it didn't seem like he wrote it with any intention of publishing it, and it still held my interest.
He has met an incredible number of musicians, including Bono, Brittany Spears, Wilco and Metallica, and he has held his own with them, never really backing down with his questions.
The coolest thing about IV is the new content. Klosterman write an intro to everything. The first part deals with his thoughts or the story of how the band interview came about, while the second part has him leaving philosophical questions for the reader to ponder (which I never quite connected to the articles, but found intriguing. He then describes how his short stoey came about.
I've been a big fan of everything I've read by him, but IV might be my favorite. I know that compilations don't usually count, but this is literature, dammit.
