I have to admit that I did not go to this show, so the facts are coming second hand (similar to the story of Jesus) from friends who went while I stayed home sick in bed, angry that I was missing NOFX.
I got a call from Greg the day after the show, right away telling me what a great show I missed. He was up front taking pictures (some of which I hope to post on here soon) and backstage (perks of being Lupo's plumber) talking with Fat Mike for awhile before Mike mysteriously left to an upstairs room.
He told me that he missed the Shira Girls but did catch The Flatliners. Some of their stuff sounded emo, but they did play some punk fused songs that he liked a lot, making up for the songs that didn't impress him. Greg liked Dillinger Four, but he didn't go into a whole lot of detail except to express the fact that he enjoyed him (I didn't exactly ask him to review the show for me, and didn't ask for much detail when he told me of the show).
NOFX, according to Greg, was awesome. Fat Mike was wasted, but they still sounded great, playing a good mixture of old songs and new songs. Josh, who took my guest list spot but missed the opening bands, verified Greg's conclusion of NOFX's set. He enjoyed the fact that they played some older songs, including "Six Pack Girls," "Linoleum," "The Brews" and "Bob." They didn't play anything off of Heavy Petting Zoo, which left Josh entralled, as he doesn't like that album (this brought up a friendly disagreement between the two of us). They mentioned something about "The Decline," which got the crowd excited, but quickly went to something else. NOFX also played a new song that Josh described as being mid tempo but good. He couldn't remember a whole lot about it, but new NOFX songs are always uplifting.
Josh stated that Fat Mike apologized to the crowd for his performance in Worcester over two years ago, when he was so drunk that he fell off the stage. He claimed that his band mates were pissed at him for his actions, but he paid them $10,000 each. I'm sure Josh (and Greg) heard some other great NOFX banter that night, but this was the one that stuck out, as it is a good story from a set I immediately regretted missing.
